The Scoop
These
pages are our virtual headquarters for 10-year-old Olivia King.
Olivia has a rare form of cystic fibrosis that attacks her liver.
Her family moved from Nashville to Buford, Georgia so she could
be close to Egleston, where her liver experts practice.
Olivia received her first liver transplant in Nashville in 2000.
During the operation, Olivia developed a thrombosis (blockage
of the main artery to the liver) and the liver went 8 hours without
blood flow. This setback caused other complications over the years,
and it has now reached a point where doctors believe she will
need a second transplant within a year.
We are attemping to raise financial support in anticipation of
the second operation.
Medicaid will pay for Olivia's transplant. However, there is
no such coverage provided to cover costs incurred by the donor.
An estimated $185,000 will be needed to pay for tests, transportation,
surgery, treatment and a hospital stay.
Our angel donor is providing hope for life for Olivia. Would you
please help us pave the way to reach our goal?
